I love the way the tree shadows fall across the snowy field. This beautiful scene is in Delaware at the historic Hale-Byrnes House. Who is Hale you ask? More information can be found here: www.halebyrnes.org/history.html Apparently General George Washington held a war council here before the Battle of the Brandywine which was held in Chadds Ford, PA.

Today my DS came to school and spoke to some middle school students about how to prepare for a career in video game design. He was nervous, but did a great job explaining what he is doing and learning at Full Sail. Middle school kids ask funny questions. He did share some of his own work and some for a new game company he and a few friends are creating. He is happy, so that is the best.

While shopping Macy's I happened upon this iPod vending machine. It just seems to be a funny location for a vending machine. I have seen these in the airport but never in a clothing store!! It is located between the men's department and women's petite!

Our school has some classrooms without windows. like mine. When I went to dismiss my homeroom at the end of the day I thought they were kidding when they told me it was snowing and there was about 1 inch on the ground. It was just enough to make people drive slowly on their way home. Thank goodness. This car definitely needs two new tires. Merry Christmas.

Our students are very generous giving toys and items for local needy families. There is a very long cafeteria table out of the picture that is covered with very large collection of toys as well.

This is one of my favorite tech tools. I can plug 5 USB items in to one port on the computer. It allows me to keep one or two things plugged in all the time too! Not bad for $$7.99.

First frost of the season! This little pond is located behind my church and often is filled with Canada geese. I guess it was too cold for them today. It is very windy too. Perhaps they found a corn field that had some protection for them. The top of this water is frozen.

I fear this little piggy will end up in someone's basement! It is a compost bin to be used by our students with their outdoor garden. Yes, it is connected to the tree, but I'll bet not for long. You can see in the foreground that the spinach is still plentiful.

As we were walking through the Philadelphia Airport, I noticed this cool image. ATT ads have several interesting pieces of artwork painted on skin. Orlando had one with ancient Egyptians, as in hieroglyphs, holding an ATT phone. Look closely and you will see that this is really a pair of hands holding the phone, not the Great Wall of China. Excellent ad, except that the art is more interesting than the phone or company!

During our GPS activity today, the grounds crew decided to spread manure on the football field. The students adjusted and just walked around the work in action. It was a great day to be outdoors and the kids enjoyed the activity. Each station had a collage of natural resources for the students to record. For a 45 minute period, students were able to visit 6 different stations. The follow up class will be to do a writing activity about the resources their group gathered.

Didn't mean to, but my flash went off. This is the best of the three shots I took. The others have dark all over the tree. I never thought to use the flash outdoors on a sunny day, but it helped to light this tree and the inside of the woodpecker hole. I am actually on top of a 40' tower and this tree is right next to the tower! But no bird in the hole. Maybe next time.

Our FCS students created and planted 16 raised gardens in September and their rewards are ready! Spinach, onions, radishes, Swiss chard, and lettuce are abundant here. The food is grown by the students and given to the Chester County Food Bank for distribution to needy families. When winter arrives, the growing will move indoors to the greenhouse seen in the background.

There were birds everywhere at Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge in Delaware today. These egrets walked pretty close to the car almost posing for the camera. Sometime in the next 3 weeks the population of wildlife will reach almost a million migrating birds and wildfowl in the ponds and reeds of the marshes.
