Today we went to the Maryland Science Center in the Baltimore Harbor. I wanted to see the GPS exhibit and see what tips I could pick up for school. As we were walking around, I saw this display and it gave me a great idea for a health project - germ podcasts! So I hope I can talk our health teacher into doing this for one of her classes! The pose just cracked me up!

On top of what we already have on the ground, there are 8 inches MORE! This is the winter that will never end. In addition, we now have 5 snow days to make up.

This is the site of our summer games in Chester County - Polo. There are weekly polo matches here and people bring their picnic lunch and tailgate. By the look of this entrance, it might be a LONG time before practice begins here!

This Quaker Friends Meeting House is closed. Not just for the snow, but this one only opens in the warmer months. It is located in Kennett Square, PA and is one of many Quaker Meetings in the area. This was the first one north of Wilmington DE, as a group of Quakers decided it was too far to drive (horse & buggy) down to Wilmington for Sunday. If you have never been to a Quaker service, you should. I have been to a funeral and a wedding and they were very much the same. A celebration of life.

This student is getting ready to film her claymation project. This plant growth project will show the stem developing, then the flowers and growth in height as well as flowers opening. The final video of this was excellent.

This is a new symbol you will be seeing around. It is called a QR Code which stands for "quick response." "A QR Code is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. The "QR" is derived from "Quick Response", as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

QR Codes are common in Japan, where they are currently the most popular type of two dimensional codes. Moreover, most current Japanese mobile phones can read this code with their camera." Quote from Wikipedia.

Icicles everywhere! The warmth of the mid-day sun melts some of the roof snow slowly enough to create long icicles on my porch! There are icicles everywhere I drive. Some are much more ornate than this set.

I pass this old one room school on my way to Lancaster all the time. Several times I have wanted to stop and take the photo, but there was either an Amish horse and buggy in the way or a car was tailing me too close to turn safely. This is no longer used as a school and I am not sure why.

I love to wear pins. I find them at craft shows and on vacation. However my friend Janis (from the previous photo) paints many and raises funds for breast cancer. She painted the snowman pins and the flag. My two favorite valentine's are in the center. I think that photo was taken 11 years ago!!

Vancouver Olympics began today. I looked through my collection and found this pin from the 1998 events. No I didn't go to the 1998 games, but I did go to the 1976 games in Montreal. going to the Olympics is a great experience and I have some fond memories of some events that I never would have seen otherwise. I saw water polo, women's field hockey, track & field, soccer, basketball, team handball and more. That was the time Nydia got the first perfect 10 in gymnastics and we watched the reply on a tv in a restaurant were everyone was French Canadian!

My friend Janis never sits still. Even though we had over 22 inches of snow - out she goes! She is either running with her dog, or exercising somewhere. This day it is in the deep snow!

I am finally getting tired of snow pictures! No not really, but the top of the handrail there on the porch is about 5'5" from the ground. This is the second of 2 quick blizzards to hit our area and this snow on top of the other is setting records for snowfall for Pennsylvania. We did not see the sun for two straight days because the sky was either filled with clouds or filled with snow!

I have used this tree in many of my photos. This is NOT a photo at night or dusk, but 10:00am. It is dark because the sky is filled with snowfall, not fog. The snow is expected to accumulate about 12-18 inches on top of our 22 inches received 5 days ago.

Valentine's Day in a middle school can be brutal! Our student council sells lollipops and our students send them to their friends. The funds are headed to Haiti. I was supervising the sellers and playing with my camera. I found this neat little special effect of sparkle. It is like the toothpaste commercial with the stars on the card! LOL

Looks like a postcard! You cant really tell from this photo that there is over 22" of snow across that lawn. You can even see the deep path of the sidewalk either. It was a beautiful morning here in PA. Many of the side roads are still snow covered and impassable. Church was canceled, the mall was closed yesterday and it should have been. But today is a different story. People are scurring about. I guess all the french toast has been consumed. So I need to go out and get some more milk today too. I love this photo of my house!

This is going to be the blizzard of 2010. It is 10:00am and the center of the storm is just over us. We have about 20 inches of snow at this point and it is still heavily snowing. The street plow just came by for the first time today and it looked like a titlewave of snow coming off the scoop in the front of the vehicle. I will add more pics later in the day.

Morning has broken. Red sky in morning, sailor's take warning. The line of nature vs nurture meets at the parking lot of Starbucks! Our weather man said we would get flurries today, but when I turned the corner at Starbuck's and saw this sunrise, I couldn't resist using my iPhone to snap! I know it is not a very pretty scene of trees, wildlife and a snow covered pond, but I am driving myself to school, so I can't take a photo while on the highway now can I?
