This is the year of home repair. Last month I had a new driveway put in and this month it is a new roof! I did not realize how bad it was until a roofer went up and took some photos of the worn shingles and at the peak of the roof there were no shingles left! But from down below on the ground it looked just fine. You couldn't see the frayed parts unless close up. I guess I will have done every major thing to this house by the end of the year. Had new furnace, security system, septic, air conditioning, and will be painted in August-the window frames anyway. Now I just need a landscaper to put on the finishing touches and I'll be ready to sell! In about 5 years when my DD graduates from college.

When visiting my friend Joyce, I noticed this unique planter. It is a hollow piece of a tree that she has planed different sedum. It looks much better in person than on this photo.

Today was the Worldwide Photo Walk. Over 1111 sites were taking guided photo tours around the world. The idea is to take many photos of your location and submit your best photo to a Flickr group. The group leader chooses a winner and they receive a book from Scott Kelby. This is his brainchild. The people were very nice and Barb brought her friend Sara along. It was a nice walk through Chesapeake City, MD, but the temperature reached 100˚

This is right above my front door entrance! The wasps are forming a new nest. I knocked down two yesterday and now it appears as if they have joined forces to get me back. It is evening and they are quiet. But by morning, they will be quite a nuisance. I hope no one gets stung.

After much thought and consideration, I decided to put in a security system. The dog hates the silent sound (we can't hear it she can) that occurs when you set the alarm. I feel badly that she has to be annoyed each day when we set it.

Now that I have returned from my summer travels, I need to get into some healthy habits. This week I started back to work out routines and reading some of my good meal magazines. Next, plan for a few weeks what to eat. Then shopping begins! I love Wegman's, I just wish it was closer.

I just can't seem to get to the bottom of things! These should be my last two baskets if I go naked for a few days! That would be scary for everyone.

I have heard so much about this book, that I decided to give it a try as a summer read. It is a bit confusing with the Swedish names, but the story is good so far.

This sunset does not look as good in a photo as it did in person. As I turned onto the road and was passing Deerfield Golf Club the sun was a blazing huge orange ball. I quickly make a left into the driveway of the club to take this photo. Believe me the live image was awesome.

This is how we organized our "unconference day". Workshops suggested by the audience and everyone "votes with their feet". Come and go where you need to learn.

Watch City BrewHouse delivered this to our table in Waltham. It was a good variety of local brews and a nice change from college food!

This makes it very clear what should go into this container!! I wish Pennsylvania and Delaware would be more specific. These were in every classroom in Bentley.

After arriving at Bentley University outside Boston, the Discovery team ordered a trolley for our Bean Town tour. This is a very large chair made to look like a glove across from Fenway Park in a Red Sox store.

Once they rode this roller coaster, there was no turning back. Alex and Barb rode in the front seats too! My stomach is too weak for these coasters. But they loved it!

This is Hogwarts from a distance. Inside is a great ride where you fly around and become part of the scenes from the Harry Potter movies. It was really fun and quite long. The walk to the ride is through the castle where you see Dumbledore taking to Harry about memories, Ron, Hermoine, and Harry talking to the audience (animatronics) about being careful, there is a talking sorting hat and many other areas of the Hogwarts location. This stands above everything else, a bit like Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom.

In Universal Studios "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" is a new land of adventure. I felt like I was walking on the movie set! It was realistic and very crowded. Even the shops had long long lines of about 45-60 minute wait to get in. The restaurant was overbooked with reservations days in advance. No wonder it is a bit hit with Potter fans.

Kim and Barbara made this tv dinner for us! Actually it is a 6 pack of cupcakes made to look like chicken legs, peas and carrots, mashed potatoes and chocolate pudding dessert. It came out great! Now Barb wants to make everything in the cupcake book!! She is quite good at creative cooking.

This is our condo in Orlando. It is a BlueGreen Resort called The Fountains. This was probably one of the nicest resorts I have traded to through RCI. It was a 2 bedroom, and could hold 8 people. We had seven, Grandparents, John, Kim, Alex, Barb and me. It was only about 2 miles south of Sea World and a perfect location for what we wanted to do. We could see fireworks from Sea World from here, but we chose to go to Downtown Disney for their fireworks show. BUT it rained all day and was quite overcast, so the Disney fireworks were cancelled. BUT the fireworks from Sea World were not and we missed them. But we ahd fun at downtown Disney walking around.

This is Parrot Key Resort and is a timeshare resort where you can rent different size units. Ours was on the end and was in a really nice interior location by the pool. We only stayed one night. Alex had to get back to his classes and Kim needed to get back to her job on Monday.

This mosaic is a manatee looking straight at you with two little ones on each side. The town of Ft. Pierce is dedicated to the manatees and you can see homage all over town. This bench is outside the tourist center.

This is a place we visit every time we come to visit my parents - The Manatee Center in Fort Pierce. There is a really nice small museum about sea life as well as manatees and a cute gift shop that sells anything manatee. There was a power station around the corner and the manatees would gather among the boars here in the winter because the water from the power plant was warm. Now that the power plant is closed, the manatees are no longer hanging out here. But the museum and gift shop are still worth it.

Took my kids to Key West just because we were already in Florida and why not? We tried several times to go snorkeling, but the trips were canceled because of choppy seas and low visibility underneath! We later found out that it was due to the outer bands of Hurricane Alex which was headed to Mexico.

My DD got a book about cupcakes for Christmas from my Mother. This was the one she really wanted to make and ta-da it is spaghetti and meatballs! We had this for dessert after our real spaghetti dinner.
